Because Oomphasis is moving up!
Keith helped me set up and migrate the Oomphasis blog over to Wordpress a little while ago, and all that's left (short of some tweaking and refining here and there) is to send you there instead of here.
Here's the new URL: www.oomphasisdesign.com
And here's the new RSS feed: http://oomphasisdesign.com/feed
Enjoy!

Oh snap!
When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, Keith told me that (besides a peach pie and a viewing of Wolverine) all he wanted from me was to print something, preferably using my new etching press. So from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon I had managed to go from design on paper, to linoleum block (and only stabbed myself once! On the elbow. Please don't ask.), to proof. I'll clean up the cut lines around the design, and then separate the center diamond from the floral design so that I can print with two colors.I came very close to one-upping that, but didn't have time, what with Mother's Day celebrations and all. I've got two three-day weekends coming up, so I'm looking forward to having some luxurious, guilt-free productive art time. And then I'll show you what else I started last weekend. Yeah, man.

So sweet, it makes my teeth hurt
This week I've decided to dedicate I Misunderstand! to pursuing the art of invitation miscommunication.
I never thought I'd ever create anything this sugary sweet-looking willingly and for free.
Sarcastic, yes. Sugary, no. I continue to surprise myself, all in the name of academics.
The dot pattern was inspired by a J.Crew dress I bought last year. The script typeface is called Giddyup, and it uses a little star to dot each "i" (I added one to the exclamation point; it seemed fitting). So, naturally, it seemed like the perfect cutesy typeface to underscore the sweet color scheme.
There's probably someone out there who'll love the design. But me? I just about gag. And then I laugh at myself.
On the other hand, Gilda and William sure are cute, if I do say so myself.
